I had no idea that MRG was a problem. Good that you guys chimed in and let us know. Are the objections to this group more directed at the allegations of shenanigans or to the integrity of their tests? Does 'failed' and/or 'passed' actually hold water in these tests or is the selected test material the problem?
I was looking for tests that would let me see some comparisons on protection for just 2 products, MSE and Immunet. I have been using MSE with Immunet Plus (with the BitDefender engine turned on) on W7 since Midnight Cowboy's license giveaway. Having the 2 products running at the same time I was hoping to see some benefit in doing so. Immunet is the new guy on the block so AV Comparatives have not done extensive tests on them as yet. Immunet just added 3 new upgraded engines and they have upgraded their product (many fixes) over the past few months, so a more recent set of tests were of interest to me (MRG had some Immunet and MSE stuff in there). A benefit (though small) would be if MSE 'failed' and Immunet Plus 'passed' the same test (or vv). At least if one got the bad guy and the other did not, that would make it worth having both. Cloud computing is growing leaps and bounds right now, so I am hoping that the few security apps that embrace this technology do well. Tnx to Midnight Cowboy, I have ImmunetPlus for a year. To be perfectly honest though, I have no idea if it is a real benefit to me or not. |
