I like the software and the features that it has. But I ended up uninstalling it because it was slowing things down a lot. I suspect it was due to the realtime shield. I have since installed something else that is not as full featured, but has the realtime shield. Surprisingly, it has not slowed down the computer as much. It would still be nice to have spyware terminator, if it just did not slow down as much.

did it make a mess of your computer or did it uninstall just fine? What anti virus were you using real time or did you install it with Clam? Any comments , will be appreciated. Bo |

Spyware Terminator has always been a bit labour intensive but modern machines shouldn't have too much of a problem with it if you like the program. It's real value is the strength of it's HIPS although for anyone using say Comodo with D+ or another HIPS then there will be too much redundancy to make running both of much use. The latest version also supports the detection and removal of flash cookies which is another bonus as are the added tools which some will find useful.

Trying and learning their HIPS is what has always attracted me to this
program but I installed last night, for the second time, Private FW. What has kept me from trying it is that, probably, their anti spyware protection might have a conflict with whatever anti virus I am using. Bo |

To my best knowledge SpywareTerminator has no conflicts with any of the AV's I've come across other than it will noticeably slow down your system especially if your installed AV is also quite resource hungry.

The only things that I noticed, so far, that I don't like are a very, very slow cold start when opening either Firefox or IE. The browsing seems to be as good as without ST being installed and speed feels fine also. Some downloads do take a few extra seconds before they actually starts downloading but I guess that's OK. The other detail that I don't like is that the GUI, I think, it has some bugs when moving around it and there is one particular function that if I try to open it, it always ends up closing Spyware Terminator. The 2 processes that it has are not using any CPU and very little memory, so I guess to this point ST seems OK. Bo |

Have to admit to not having a clue unless you've got something else protecting the HOSTS file which is shutting ST out?
