I can't say for sure if it's a final release or not. It doesn't say beta at majorgeeks dot com. (Build #1.5.0.42.) Which matches the build # for the file that I downloaded from the Symantec site. It doesn't say beta on the Symantec site either, but I can't remember if it did before or not.
From what I have read, the false positives have been reduced with the last build or two. I haven't read any documents about the specifics of this app from Symantec. This doesn't look like a security app scanner that you would routinely use as part of scheduled on demand scanning. It looks to be more like an app that you would want to use if you indeed think that you are infected, and you're having trouble either detecting it, or getting rid of it with your resident protection. With that said, if you can separate the false positives from real malware, then it may be a good little scanner to add to your toolbox. Maybe Symantec will put the time and resources necessary to turn it into a pretty good scanner-remover. Last edited by JohnnyDollar; 29. Aug 2010 at 05:21 AM. |
