Default Small scan test of Hitman pro

I got recently from http://malwareresearchgroup.com/ a set of 1100 new pieces of malware. (They give sample sets when requested for us at Gizmo's Freeware for testing purposes.)

Hitman pro found 1040/1100.

Typically 2-3 AV:s recognized each beast. If we ASSUME that all engines are approximately equal, the scanning performance of each single engine is thus 44%.

The power of using several scanners is seen. :thumb:

Good illustration.

Here's another "live" example of an event that happened here today.

My wife rang from the university to say she was polishing her nails because she can't use her computer because the network is infected yet again and her PC keeps sending folks pictures and stuff Bear in mind that this is where the cream of Teresopolis go and pay a lot of money to study

I asked her what their IT "experts" were doing about it and she said they were running a scan. What with I asked, the installed program which had already let this thing through? This was affirmative.

Well, I guess there's nothing like having faith and giving something a second chance!

Ako, I value your opinion. What do you think of this forum and these two threads?

The only possible false positive I ran across was with this file http://www.softpedia.com/get/File-ma...HECK-SUM.shtml Which is certified as clean by Softpedia. I uploaded it to Virustotal and it was labeled as malware by at least a couple of other engines other than the ones Hitman uses.

For me fp:s have not been a problem. In my tests/real world cleaning it has been a real monster in killing malware.

Thanks ako. Is there a chance I can get a copy of the set of malware files you mention. I would like to do some testing of my own.
