You may want to update your "Best Free Intrusion Prevention and Detection Utility for Home Use (HIPS)" section, to at least give a mention.
This is a top choice for the advanced user. Although Winpatrol and ThreatFire are more my speed....the average user. Link is to the Free Version, which is exactly the same as the last full version, except icon and license changed. Via xiaolin...Malware Defender developer... Last edited by Anupam; 30. I went to the home page of Malware Defender. I could find no mention anywhere that Malware Defender is now offered free. The download page shows it as trialware.

The author was hired by 360safe....and now offers it as freeware. The download link I provided installs with a new FreeWare Lincense.
Here is the talk on Wilders...which confirms new version, freeware, download link I provided is (or at least was) clean. Note some of my filters flagged/blocked 360Safe. http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showt...=267680&page=7 |

One Wilders post claims that Barracuda, WOT, and Prevx say that the link you posted is from a malicious site. I just think users need to be aware and cautious.

Browser Defender also reports potentially malicious content.
Plus, it's forbidden for me for some reason. DownForEveryoneOrJustMe states it's down as well. Because of that, I can't provide VirusTotal links (which may include false positives). |

360safe is rated red on WOT. I would not advise anyone to go to that site. That said, many people over at Wilders have downloaded the file, and are claiming the file to be clean.

Although I have great respect for our friends at Wilders and also appreciate EscapeVelocity's desire to bring this news to us, we still need to abide by our site rules. Consequently, until a link for a confirmed freeware version of Malware Defender appears on a WOT green rated site, we won't be posting it here.

As always, there are different opinions. Bellgamin is one Wilders member who I have a lot of respect for and he said this about it today: "Yes it's free. I suppose the new owners of MD know what it's truly worth. Nothing! Over the past few years I have now bought & paid for 2 HIPS lifetime licenses from that part of the world -- 1 for ProSecurity; the other for Malware Defender -- both of them were $$$ down the toilet. It reminds me of the time I bought a suit with 2 matching pairs of pants, & then I burned a hole in the coat" Just because this program passes a few tests at Matousec doesn't make it a must have app. For many people WinPatrol will be a much easier option to manage and understand.
