yes is a question i ask on most forums..and since i have a hardware-firewall setup[inbound and outbound rules] included and this passed shields up test..no problem.
-also i read at wilders that disabling windows firewall save a lot of resources [disabling from services] .but i thnk a sotfware firewall is needed. and i always read good reviews about this pc firewall plus. |

In one of the latest firewall tests, PC Tools Firewall ranked the highest of all firewalls, including all free and commercial versions. I've been using it for about a year now and I love it. It has a small footprint and works very well.
I did just realize that I've been using version 5.0 for a while (I didn't realize that the Smart Update was not upgrading me to the newest version), and just upgraded to the newest version. The new version has been a little "noisy" at first. However, I have the "enhanced security verification" enabled. This is basically the built-in HIPS. I prefer to use it and leave it on. If you don't use it, you hardly ever hear a peep out of it. It definitely provides you better protection, IMO, than the built-in windows firewall. And, it seems to play nicely with most other security applications.

Hm, I have always assumed that the firewall is the ultimate toy for the geek population.
Certainly not eye candy. The eye wants its part even among geeks I suppose.

On the other hand, if users do not have knowledge about firewalls, and they won't be able to handle the pop-ups, then windows firewall might be good enough for such purpose. I have found PC Tools Firewall to be quite good for average users, and experienced users too. For a really solid firewall, go for Comodo.
