In light of recent events TSA has decided to adopt the same policy as other sites by withdrawing Iobit products and links from our reviews.
We reserve the right to review this policy after the results of current actions are made public.

Hi,
New member, and probably infrequent poster. I've lurked on the forum for a couple days to seek a solution for the AntiVir update issue, then I find this IOBit fiasco that has been quite the internet soap opera. I just wanted to say that I admire your restraint in not rushing to judge the issue. In my research last night, I decided to uninstall all things IOBit. In the past I've had unsatisfactory results with Smart Defrag and Advanced System Care. I'll sort of miss Game Booster, though. All it did was shut a bunch of Windows services down that I could have done manually, and possibly run the game in high priority mode. When I went to their website I found it to be very unprofessional, and found they had posted a link to a known malware file for average users to test the effectiveness of their product. I realize that is the way experienced malware hunters test their programs, but to give that to the general public defies good sense. By their own admission it was a legit malware file, not the phonies that Malwarebytes created to catch them. I don't intend to fan any more flames, but once I saw that on their own site it was goodbye to IOBit for me. Sometimes an internet witch hunt finds a real witch.![]() P.S Sorry for the overly long first post. |

Hi
Thanks for the post and welcome (officially) to the forum ![]() Yeah, you joined us at an interesting time although I never take pleasure out of such events which amongst other things causes us all a lot more work ![]() I'm disappointed too for everyone who now feels like a lot of us do, but trust is so important in this industry and once lost will be difficult to regain.

A lot of mods are having a lot of work with this one. I'm just glad I joined in time to be alerted about this as I was considering trying IOBit 360. My browsing habits were getting a bit boring before this
. Nothing like a little scandal to make your day interesting .P.S. I want everyone to know that with all seriousness, I agree with Cowboy in that anything like this just hurts the security industry as a whole and could scare newbies away from the legitimate security that they need. Still you have to admit that the situation just gets more and more absurd. IOBit's defense to all the porn links and stuff is that their site was hacked..... And so it goes. MC, thanks for showing retraint while the IObit situation played out. And I support your decision to withdraw IObit products and links. Very well done! There is a lot of new and improved security software in beta or very immature. It is a very interesting time to see how all these new products play out. I fear short cuts due to the intense competition at this time will be taken. Patience is a virtue. |

Ironically, Iobit's handling of their beta program was a revelation compared to say when Comodo introduced the world to CIS. OK so the Comodo suite is now one of the best of it's type available but was the trail of broken hearts and machines along the way really fair? Some argue that you cannot fully test these things except in the public domain and that many of the issues do not surface until this happens. That said, Privacyware, Avast, Avira, Prevx and Emsisoft amongst others seem to manage this process well enough with private testing before unleashing it on the rest of us.

We would like to thank the members of the forum who have shown restraint in this whole matter. The discussion in this regard on this forum has been very much sane, unlike other places where so much flaming is going on, and loud unnecessary outburst is being seen. Really, thank you
.
