This is disturbing, from the Malwarebytes forum. Could it be true?

You often see such things floating around which may or may not have foundation. We have contacted Iobit directly for a response and will then take whatever action we feel appropriate, including updating this thread.

Before any of us jump to conclusions (myself included) let's let IOBIT respond. There are always 2 sides to an issue/story.
Please check out: http[COLON]//forums[DOT]iobit[DOT]com/showthread.php?t=4801 http[COLON]//forums[DOT]iobit[DOT]com/showthread.php?t=4799 Let's wait for their official response and their response to Midnight's email.

As was to be expected this saga is now rumbling on in several places with nothing definitive emerging from it. Without excusing anything, all I will say is that this type of situation is inevitable given;
a) human nature b) the competitive nature of the PC security industry and c) the amount of money to be made from it Ultimately, and without endorsing any of the racist comments made in other places, the fact remains that legislative procedures in China do not facilitate the open disclosure of data in such circumstances. So, you can still make two equally good alternative arguments here as both sides can lose or gain from this situation and/or seek to turn it to their own advantage. I'm also conscious of the fact that many of the people joining in with this argument will be doing so using illegal copies of Windows and from machines containing pirated movies and software. The world is far from perfect and we must all take at least some responsibility for how its turned out. As I've already stated in one of my replies in the comments section, I don't think it will ever be possible to confirm this situation one way or the other so fans and opponents of both Iobit and Malwarebytes must make up their own minds where they stand and apply their actions accordingly. Certainly from the site's point of view I am confident that all of our editors make every effort possible to ensure that the information presented here is both factual as well as useful and entertaining. To do this effectively means forming relationships with the various vendors as there is no other way to extract the information required, or negotiate the exclusive offers enjoyed by our visitors. This doesn't mean that we end up in anyone's pocket, far from it. Gizmo is fiercely independent of any outside influence and most of us here would leave if this ever changed. We will continue to work with all of the sources necessary to place material on the site and hope to present it in the best way possible for people to make up their own minds about whether the content is suitable for them. On a strictly personal basis I at least feel that maybe Iobit should have strengthened their validation procedures to prevent inappropriate items from entering their system. That said it's easy to be wise after the event and impossible to prove any malicious intent over and above a “mistake” having been made. Me?, well I'm taking the easy way out. I had already uninstalled Advanced System Care because of a problem. Until I managed to mess up my Ubuntu upgrade last weekend I haven't been using Vista much but two days ago after running ASC some of my programs refused to load at boot, including Bullguard which I'm running ready for the offer period. I restored my system and everything came back to normal, ran ASC again and things refused to load. I've never been a fan of this type of software anyway and this was too much of a coincidence to ignore so I did another restore and dumped ASC. Now Iobit360 has gone the same way because with Bullguard I don't feel the need for it and it's also just possible that it might interfere with something I later present as Bullguard's fault. Without it this can't happen and Bullguard do stipulate that it isn't necessary to run any other security software with their suite. We shall see!
