Has anyone else had problems with the lack of updates from Avira?
Last update was 14th Oct and it's now the 18th Oct and still nothing! I am loathe to uninstall the software as so far its done an excellent job but if things don't improve very soon then I feel I will have no real alternative. Some feedback on this annoying issue would be very much welcomed. ![]() Torresmagnifico |

The Avira forum is also full of update issues again. My advice is to dump it. This issue has gone on long enough and surely a vendor with the status of Avira should have sorted a solution by now. The only time I've seen this sort of unresolved situation in businesses previously is just before they were taken over by another company. I hasten to add that this is pure speculation on my part and probably meaningless in this case but I'm struggling to understand why this has remained unfixed for so long.
Updates and/or the frequency of them are such a critical component for this type of software that I would change to something else. In my opinion CIS is now a contender for one of the best total solutions although if you're happy with your current firewall then Avast! is the one to look at.

Slightly off topic (sorry) but I've noticed that the Security Wizard seems to name Avira as the best choice of AV for virtually everyone, if it continues to suffer updating issues maybe this should be taken into consideration, and the Wizard results tweaked accordingly?

I assume this is referring to the FREE version, if so this has been an on going problem with this company for years now. I agree it should have been resolved ages ago. Some research into other FREE programs should be done and then pick the best one that works for you. Reminder check the down load site before you install anything onto your machine, take no ones word that the site is safe.
Thanks Wildman |
