(Touch wood) But I have had 5 days of auto updates in a row. They are slow in kb/sec, but they are coming through. I am in the Eastern time zone and I would figure that would be a very busy time zone if Avira tries to update everyone in that time zone automatically around the same time.

Finally some good news... and good to see some solid steps being taken in this respect by Avira. Hopefully, things should get better. Lets see... and hope for good.

Still, they did not fail to mention about the commercial version even in the freeware version news .

That's really positive news. Thanks for feedback. So, finally Avira did something to improve the updates. Hope this time it lasts for good. It was a shame that such a good antivirus was being let down by an update problem.
