I had seen this and there are contradictions within the thread itself. It's like all of these "tests", Matousec included and people must make their own judgments as to their overall value. I think the only aspect not open to debate is that something else other than a signature based ability is needed to combat the modern malware threat. As the likes of Mamutu and Threatfire are designed to do just this I feel they are a worthy addition. As I replied to Kendal, my personal leanings are towards Mamutu because it's easier to manage and configure in it's default state. I don't doubt the power of Threatfire's advanced settings but I would not understand many of these, and I guess a lot of others users too. Additionally I've not known Mamutu to be capable of causing the type of system problems attributed to Threatfire.

Yes, this is from Emsisoft.

Default Mamutu issues

I installed Mamutu but the updates are taking a long time. I have had to uninstall it due to this issue.

Could my setup (win7 RC) be a problem for this.

As per the download information on the Emsisoft web site, unfortunately Windows 7 is not supported.

Thanks MC

You're welcome. In use I've found this to be a very comprehensive tool. You do need to activate the 'intelligent alert reduction' feature and stay well away from 'paranoid' mode unless you want a lot of alerts to play with. Otherwise I find what it does alert to easily manageable. I'm not sure what the resource use is like because mine is part of a-squared anti-malware but I see on Wilders they think it's acceptable, so it must be good
