I would be very surprised if Gizmo recommended GeSWall. Read through this thread for further information:

Thanks for the link as well grimbles. Sure made me recall some bad memories *shudders*, but now I know for sure that it's a troublesome program, far too troublesome for whatever protection it offers.
Anyways, do you guys know of any effective anti-logger software? (preferably free), or do I even need that? (refer to my extra long security setup post if you require more information). |

However, I personally don't see how that's proof that GesWall is bad. |

Well, it wouldn't be GeSWall, but not because of the negative comments. I'm still not certain about this one myself although I will say that on most of the forum and download sites there is a definite tendency to rubbish anything that people cannot understand. Why can't I choose Sandboxie? If we're going to make it restrictive why not cut out everything except the choice (whatever it is) that you want me to make? In actual fact it would be DriveSentry. Why?, well subject to a sudden deluge of forum activity it appears to be one of the few add-ons that will work with pretty much everything else apart from Kaspersky. I am actually running this (without Avast!) in response to a challenge from DS to do so. Their position is that DS will do the job on it's own well enough. They also offer the standard advice that running more than one application of the same type (security) is not wise, although they also say that DS will coexist with other software. The main reason I would choose DS though is because if something did manage to penetrate the other software, in order to activate it would have to write to the disc and then DS would either detect it as malware or offer it up for approval. As I stand in general at the moment I would be seriously looking to use the CIS suite anyway. The AV protection is now more than acceptable and improving all the time, and with a 30 minute new signature update target turnaround getting close to being achieved. The firewall continues to be top class, and providing that the integration of BOClean into 3.9 doesn't reintroduce a pile more bugs then I'd ditch Avast! and use the suite complete.

Thanks Midnight. I have not tried DS.
Just an FYI, Avast is coming out later this year (when exactly? no one is sure) with a free firewall. Most suspect that there will also be a internet security suite as well. I, for one, am looking forward to testing that out.

Midnight, another quick question related to your response--
Would you choose DriveSentry over a firewall with a HIPS, like Comodo?

Yeah - saw that - I'm wondering where they've got it from? Maybe I'm wrong but I couldn't see them writing their own from scratch.
