Yes, I've been unsure as to whether I need a different firewall to the standard W7 one since I've been using Sandboxie.
I think my main concern is the outbound connections made by installed programs. I may give that one a try MC. Quote:

Notice just received of another update. Our thanks to Greg Salvato for keeping us informed.
Privatefirewall update – v7.0.26.3. This is another relatively significant update given the new features and the Microsoft re-signed drivers. RELEASE NOTES - 7.0.26.3, posted 2/9/2012 (uninstall/reboot of previous build is required for installation of 26.3) - Updated drivers reviewed/signed by Microsoft Winqual. - Added ability to define fw rule order. - Addressed issue with avast.setup. - Added IP address based filtering capability. - Modified driver binding implementation to address possible related implications (i.e. lost Internet connection, system drag, etc.) of other driver conflicts/incompatibilities. - Resolved failed Kill3f and fileacc1 leak tests. - Modified logic for automated rule creation in relation to SPI (limits certain automatic rule creation to outbound only). - Added ability to permanently remove publishers from the TP list. - Added "Skip" button to Program Change alerts ("If this program changes frequently, select Skip to suppress further checks."). - Added Delete and Insert key handling to Applications, Process Monitor, Trusted/Blocked sites, Trusted Publishers, Detected Processes and Parents lists. - Added Next and Prev buttons to Applications. - Addressed several minor bugs/defects.

CURRENT VERSION - 7.0.26.4, posted 2/15/2012: (Select Main Menu/Help/About Privatefirewall 7.0 to find the version number)
Click here to download GENERAL INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: Please uninstall the existing version of Privatefirewall (via Add/Remove programs or Start -> All Programs -> Privatefirewall 7.0 -> Uninstall...) and reboot system before installing an update. Thanks. Had a bit of a problem reinstalling.....had to uninstall sandboxie and then install PFW....and reinstalled sandboxie afterwards. Both are running well now. Also seen the update headsup over at Wilders.

I had no issues whatsoever...odd. (XP Pro SP3 here).
I disabled MBAM Pro but left Sandboxie and WinPatrol Plus as normal during both the uninstall and reinstall. Glad it's working properly now in any case.

![]() By the way Blues I am also in XP Pro SP3. Sandboxie wasn't totally at fault as I had some Outpost Windows oem.inf and oem.pne remnant files that I deleted along with temporarily uninstalling Sandboxie and reinstalling. Alls well in Canuck land now though.

It's always a joy having to deal with the effects of leftover detritus from some apps that don't fully uninstall. Glad you got things working smoothly.
