Default No English Help for PotPlayer or Media Player Classic?

Is it true there are no English versions of help file / user manual for either PotPlayer or MPC-HC?

Other than threads on Doom9.org, I don't find any "official" user forums for either of these, either.

In spite of searching the threads on Zoom9 for this info, nothing came up.
I'm wondering if for either prgm, you can customize the control bar by adding new tool buttons / icons, the way you can in VLC media player. Like adding a screen capture button, A-B loop buttons, etc.

Thanks.

Adding toolbar buttons is what people of the last decade does. This not only makes the interface bloated (button laden interface), it also takes time (hold mouse, move it to the desired location and click). Do you even use play/stop button on the toolbar or do you use spacebar hotkey or seek buttons on the toolbar instead of left/right hotkey?

1. For ease of use you can assign customized hotkeys for almost all functions (like C for capture etc) or use the already defined shortcuts. In PotPlayer, right click->preferences->general->shortcuts . In MPC-HC, view->options->player->keys. Adding buttons on toolbar for options that are not commonly used makes it superflous.

2. If you really attached to the use of buttons, you may try using a different skin.

You may use KMPlayer user manual for PotPlayer since they are very similar. The llink to it, is available in the KMPlayer quick selection guide at BF Media Player. For MPC-HC there is an online wiki setup, but it's still blank. But, there are various how-to guides on the internet for specific functions.

PotPlayer has an official user forum, but it's in Korean. They do allow threads to be posted in English. also. But, the main roadblock is to get registered on the site. You may have to use Google translation, but still it's quite difficult. Guy's at Doom9 forums are quite helpful too.

George, thanks for reply.

The lack of half decent user manuals (for any complicated app) isn't only about control icons. I don't want to spend a lot of time on forums or experimenting repeatedly, if I can look at the user manual (if one existed).

Yes, I am from "past decades." I like certain, frequently used buttons on the toolbar. Apparently, so do a lot of others, based on skins developers adding them & several top players (not to mention other apps) allowing users to customize control bar. Customizing browser toolbars is one of top advertised features. I don't argue that keyboard shortcuts are * sometimes * quicker than buttons - depends on number of key combinations.

Like the screen of KMP's keys for JUST A-B Selection - I'd never remember all of those unless I used them more than in a while. That's just one function. There are many dozens of others to remember.

If I used an app everyday (say, like a writer / secretary uses a word processor), I'd eventually remember many shortcuts - for THAT prgm. But, many programs use diff key combos for same function & often have no option to change them (some do). It's too many shortcuts to remember in dozens of prgms - for an "Oldster" like me. Some days, my fingers are pretty sore & stiff - so less typing / keystrokes is better.
