Help setting up Debut or alternative for Web Cam capture

Hi all,

I have recently been using Debut to capture video from the webcam of my fiancee's notebook.

Its not the best one in the world and it came with her ACER notebook (Extensa 4210 running Windows 7) - its an ACER Orbicam.

Anyway, I've been playing around with the settings, and I was wondering if anyone knew what the best way to set up the Debut was to get a smooth as possible capture with the webcam? (i.e. file type, various settings, etc).

Alternatively - can anybody suggest an alternative piece of freeware that can capture video (and audio of course) from a webcam that would be better than Debut?
