Default Making music discs

I have some music videos and i want to put them on a CD that if i put in a CD player will play like a normal CD but if i put into a DVD player will play the music Videos.

But i don't know what i need, do i put it on a CD or DVD? Which format is best MP4?
Do i use a DVD authoring program like DVD Styler to make it which only burns to DVD's not CD's or do i burn it as a data disc with image burn?

I know how to burn CD's and i know how to burn DVD's but i want both on one disc.

If it cant be done on a DVD player, how do i set it up to play the music CD in a CD player and CD Rom on a computer?

Any Advice?

What you need to research is "mixed mode" CD's. Some burning softwares have a mixed mode setting. Generally you will be limited to using only CD's because most CD players will not read a DVD. (different laser type) So you will be limited to lower fidelity video which is offered by VCD or SVCD etc. Most DVD players will have no trouble with Video CD's but mileage does vary.

I should probably mention there are or were technologies called DVD-A (DVD-Audio) and SACD (Super Audio CD) That tried to provide a better solution to exactly what you want to do. It has not been very well accepted.

I started to research VCD's but it seems you cannot play them in car stereo's for example. I done a quick search of mixed mode cd's, It can burn audio files and a data track.

Does mixed mode mean i am burning audio files that are blended with the video files, then burn seperate audio files to the same disc to be played in a stereo?
What about making a menu for the video files?

Can anyone point me to a tutorial i am having trouble finding one that does what i want.

I have never made a mixed mode disk myself but I have a couple. The music tracks will play in a normal cd player without a problem. Put them in the computer and the multimedia data tracks are also available.

Basically you are creating a disk with two completely separate sections that have a entirely different type of formatting. The first section will be recorded like a normal music CD. Then another track or section will be created that contains the video files. A cd player will recognize the audio track, but the other track will just appear like a blank section on the disk to it. A DVD player on the other hand should recognize both sections and allow you to play the audio track or the video. However it may not be possible to make it work with the VCD format. Most mixed mode disks are a standard audio section, and a data section. A data section could contain a video file such as divx or xvid and some DVD players may be able to play it, but many may not. DVD players seem to be pretty picky and temperamental about what compression formats they will play.

What I would suggest is to go to ttp://www.videohelp.com and do a search for "mixed mode" or "cd extra." I found this http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/3...-data-possible which is sort of along the lines of what you want to do. There was a lot of other articles to wade through. If you can't find what you need just ask in their forums. I have always found the guys around there to be quite knowledgeable and helpful.

From what I am finding not many burning suites will support making these type of disks, it looks like Nero will, but I don't know if it is available in the free lite version.

After looking around i figured i would have to burn the audio files first in one session But in order to select and play in a dvd it would need a menu to select between the files, So i was going to burn the audio in one session the in the 2nd session burn the VCD format, I dont know if that will work but i will give it a go and maybe waist a disc. Burn Aware Free supports Multisession DVD-RW/DVD+RW im not to sure about imgburn it must be in the advance settings somewhere to keep a open session.

There is actually quite little about this on the internet, a few about playing on computer and cd player but not dvd and cd player. i cant be the first person that wanted to do this. I may make a tutorial if im ever successful.

I assume by "music videos" you are referring to DVDs? There are some problems with the above quote.

1/. You are looking to put video on a CD. It will not fit without resorting to codecs that are going to down grade the video noticeably.
2/. You are looking for a DVD play to recognise a CD that contains video. I do not know what DVD player you have but you need to say which files types it will play.

Edit: Also you did not say which file types your CD player will play.
