Default Help burning ISO DVD

Hi,

I made a copy of 2 dvds as iso files using iso buster. It also created .cue files.

Tried playing the .iso files with kmplayer and nothing worked

Tried with VLC and everything including the menus work just fine!

Question: if I burn the .iso files using imgburn or any such software, I will get copies of the original DVDs which can be played back on the dvd player (sorry for such a stupid question!). Right?

Assuming the DVD's weren't dual layer, or if they were, your DVD burner has the ability to write dual layer, then yes it should work. An ISO is an image file and as such it should in theory be able to be burned directly to another DVD and work properly. I say in theory, because there are some other variables involved that can make things go awry. I think that the fact that VLC could play them is a good sign.

ISO files are image files, and as such cannot be played on the media players. I don't know how you were able to play the ISO file on VLC. No idea about that.

You could have used ImgBurn itself, or any other CD/DVD burner to make an image of the DVD. It would have been easier, and less time consuming than Isobuster I think.

Anyways, if you burn the ISO file to a DVD, then you should be able to play the DVD playable on DVD players. But, DVDs can be copy-protected, and that can create a problem. So, you should check if that's the case.

You can check the ISO files before writing them on to a DVD, to make sure they are trouble free. You can check these with the help of optical drive emulators, like MagicDisc. There are others, and you can find them here :

http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...d-emulator.htm

If the ISO file is able to play well on the emulator, you can then burn it on a DVD.

I have tried to help you with the best of my knowledge that I have got in this area. Someone with more knowledge can chip in with some better suggestions. Meanwhile, you can try what I suggested.

VLC uses the same control library that many virtual cd programs use to mount the iso image and play it. There are numerous free tools that can mount an ISO and then any media player should be able to play it.

Thanks Ritho, I did not know about this feature of VLC. I will try it sometime. VLC has some hidden, or lesser known features it seems. I came to know some days ago that VLC can perform video conversion among different formats too.
It also has the ability to rotate a video too. Although, the changes cannot be saved, but its still a useful feature.

Yes, that's what I suggested in my earlier post.

This was a useful feature for me once. When we first got a video camera, my wife turned the camera and shot a video of our little girl in portrate. Later I asked her how we were supposed to watch that, and she laughed. I think I found that virtual dub will turn a video and re-render it. So I was able to fix it.
