Default A dummies' program?

I need a good easy music transfer program for a complete novice?

I've done a little searching and found a few that might be what he needs:

Audacity, maybe too much
expaudoieditor,
FAE,
Kristal AE,
QuickAudio,
Wavosaur 1.0.5.0

I'll be installing one on his XP pro machine, he has dial up but never uses it so I download it burn it then take it to his place to install for his transferring pleasure. He'll be doing mostly tape and the occasional LP.

I use Cakewalk Pyro 5 myself that came with my Stanton Turntable so I'm a little familiar with what and how to give him some pointers to start. If anyone has used one or the other audio programs that would be great.

Thanks,

Dan

Most of them are from Gizmo's.

I would use Audacity before i would use Kristal. I've used Audacity for this exact purpose and not been disappointed with the result. Kristal i'm just not fond of anyway but that's not why i don't recommend it: it works but it's a bit overkill for simply transferring some music to digital, especially for a novice user.
Hope this helps.

Thanks grf, I had installed Audacity on another friends computer could never get it to work in stereo only ever recorded the left channel. I'll try it again, maybe this time it will work right.

Thanks again grf.

Welcome
I know that Audacity defaults to mono record when you install it but you just switch the track to stereo. I've not had it record only the left track and i've used a few versions so is it possible something was configured wrong? I'd be interested to know how you get on.

I'll let you know once I've installed and give him a quick tutorial to get him started.
