I've downloaded DVDFlick but won't be able to try it out for a while.
I'm wondering what kind of disc to use. My preference is definitely rewriteable, but apart from that, there are so many formats available, it's daunting. |

Hey Sky - DVD-RW are okay to use. Do you plan to use the same discs over and over rather than a separate disc for each movie? If that is your plan then re-writeable is the only way you can go.
There are really only 4 different types of blank media; DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW....the latter two being the re-writeable ones. I prefer the DVD-R and DVD-RW, not because they are necessarily superior but because they are more universally accepted....i.e. that format is supported by all media players. I use DVD-R, but I keep all my movies forever so have no wish to overwrite them. Other things to consider; Always buy well known brand name discs, avoid the cheapies....it's less expensive in the long run because your success rate with quality discs will be very near 100% whereas the cheaper ones will produce quite a few failures. Also, make sure the discs have a maximum write speed of 16X...(I think most do now). That's all there is to it really. ![]() cheers....JIM |

Hey Sky - I use an add-on called 'DownloadHelper' with the Firefox browser....will download anything from just about anywhere.
Which browser do you use (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.)? What sites are you mostly looking to '"save" videos from? There are quite a few feeware apps for saving YouTube videos to PC, for example. cheers....JIM |

I use Sothink Web Video Downloader for Firefox. Its a less known extension for Firefox, but I find it to be very good.
You can also use the Grab++ feature of Orbit Downloader to capture videos from the video sites. Thats a nice way too.

The recently added GetGo Download Manager helps download your favorite videos from YouTube and other websites with embedded FLV flash videos with one-click.
See details at Best Free Download Manager. |

As a matter of fact, after searching on this subject, I did come across "Downloadhelper" and was thinking of using it. |
