Just an update.
I'm still test driving PClinuxOS XFCE. I did the first update, lots of downloads and took over an hour. It turns out to be well worth the time. All of the issues I encountered have been solved and I am writing this post using firefox 4.01. Nothing against Iron but FF just feels comfortable to me and I have really come to depend on all the nifty add-ons. I also have found everything I need to finish customizing my desktop.

I will be downloading PClinuxOS Gnome version tonight and will install it tomorrow. I have to say PClinux XFCE has been an outstanding experience and a very solid OS and will remain on my top picks list.

I remember really liking PCLinux Gnome but it uses a different network manager to the Ubuntu variants and it struggled with my modem, although the cable connection was fine. It always recognized the modem when it was plugged in, but often the configuration window did not appear and/or the result did not show as an option to connect to. This process was so hit and miss using the live CD that I never did get round to trying it with a full install.

Thankfully I don't have issues with my Internet connection but then again if for some reason I loose my DSL connection I'm stuck with Dial-up. Its like going from a car to bicycle.

I'm about to install PClinusOS Gnome although its taken longer than I expected.
I cant believe that darn honey-do list has priority

Monica only commented the other day about how often I change the wallpaper. She hasn`t cottoned on yet they`re actually different distros!

Still, no more testing of anything for me until I get the main machine fixed
