I found this on Distrowatch:
"In general you will feel the diference in iQunix when you will first boot in it's desktop enviroment Sleek and Fast Gnome desktop environment. Nothing is pre-installed as usually seen in other Linux distributions. You have the power of control to install anything you want and create YOUR own desktop experience. Both Live CD environment and Install environment are included in just 400MB." "After you install iQunix OS in your PC, you will get a minimum software stack that is required to make a functional desktop enviroment. Here is a list of what you get with iQunix OS: Gedit -- Simple text editor Terminal -- For those who know the power of linux shell 2Click Update -- A simple, yet intuitive system maintenance app Nautilus -- The best file manager to manage your files and folders Remastersys -- To make a backup of your entire operating system with all your installed programs Hardware Drivers installer -- To automatically detect you systems graphic card and wireless network card and install the apropreate drivers Software Center -- To install the programs of your choice." http://iqunix.sourceforge.net/index.html There's a 10.10 version and an 11.04 with 'old' Gnome. |

Distro's like Bohdi and iQunix will no doubt become a useful avenue for the seasoned Linux users. I recently tried Kubuntu 11.04 on VB and I found it contained multiple utilities that performed the same function. For new Linux users these loaded distro's may be very helpful. For the experienced user it may seem like bloat.
The only suggestion I would offer to developers is to give a choice of desktops at install such as Enlighthenment, Gnome 3, KDE or Unity. To be honest I'm not even sure if such a thing is possible. More likely it will remain as separate downloads for different flavors of the distro. Last edited by wdhpr; 17. May 2011 at 09:57 PM. |

Just taking a look at it , sounds like a good distro for those that want to just add programs of choice without the bloat . I like the idea of 2Click Update, first time I have seen that and including Remastersys in it . Yes I think I will download it and see what it is like .

These distros are like browser clones now but still great to see because every one will appeal in some way to those who for one reason or another are not happy with the others. Mageia are also doing this of course from Mandriva but considering how stable 2010.2 is on my machine, Mageia will need to offer something special if I'm to be tempted into a swap. At the other end of the iQunix scale I still like Zorin and their new website will go a long way towards making this OS more popular. How significant V5 turns out to be though, we'll have to wait and see.

I plan on downloading Zorin tonight and giving it a spin. I like the fact its based on Ubuntu and is preconfigured to look and feel like Windows. |

Like another well known distro, Zorin has Irish roots
I believe Artyom Zorin was still a teenager when this project was first launched. He does however seem suitably qualified with awards like Highly Commended BT Young Scientist 2009 to his name. I believe his brother is also involved with the project.
