Completed download and burned the ISO image to a DVD.
Tried booting up the Ubuntu 11.04 system from the live DVD and writing this post. Noted it's Firefox 4 and using LibreOffice 3 as default. Err... I didn't see the Unity yet, it was a familiar classic desktop. Probably I have to install and run it from the harddisk before seeing the new desktop? Will do it tomorrow. Good nite here.

It says you can choose between classic or unity at boot-up. I tried to do that with 11.04 while running inside VB but wouldn't do it for me. Maybe they made some changes before the final release.

I didn't like Unity and was trying to use the classic windows. While in VB there was no option available for Unity or classic during boot-up. I have a post on the Ubuntu and VirtualBox forums. Have not received a response yet.

After installing Ubuntu 11.04 into the harddisk, I rebooted the PC and was greeted with these three words:
Input Not Supported ![]() These three words is floating on the screen and won't go away until I press Enter and it gets back to the log-in screen to Ubuntu. Installed Startup Manager and I can see that several OS bootloaders are there. Choose Win 7 to be the default and reboot, see "Input Not Supported" again, press Enter, and it goes straight to Win 7. Apparently Ubuntu 11.04 has replaced my multi-boot menu with "Input Not Supported", at least for my case, when tested on one of my PCs with LCD X193w.Will see how to resolve it. Anyone has a good suggestion?

The issue of "Input Not Supported" was also reported in the Ubuntu forum here yesterday. I added a config file xorg.conf as suggested there but it didn't work for me.
![]() I used the Startup-Manager to change the startup display resolution to lower but it didn't help either. Input still not supported upon rebooting. ![]() On the same PC, I've been running Mint 10.10 with no such problem. It has a workable boot menu. Since there's been no other better way so far, I reinstalled Mint into the Mint partition to get back the boot menu. I knew it was a longer process but then it worked. Now I can see the boot menu to boot into Win7, Mint 10.10 and Ubuntu 11.04.

Ubuntu 11.04 uses "Ubuntu" session to log into the Unity Desktop by default. But I received a message to say "It seems that you do not have the hardware required to run Unity, choose Ubuntu Classic at the login screen..."
As such, when I logged in with the default Ubuntu session, I couldn't see the launcher and dash on the desktop. I went to System > Administration > Additional Drivers, and installed "Experimental 3D support for NVIDIA cards" driver. Logged out and logged back in with the default "Ubuntu" session, ha... then I could see the launcher and dash working on the Unity desktop. Solved!

Briefly trying out the Unity Desktop but personally I don't feel I like it much at least for now.
I tried logging into the "Ubuntu Classic" session and it seems that everything looks almost the same as before. Once you log into the Classic session and log out, the next login will automatically change the default session to Classic. So this is a good point as it has been before. I'll be focusing on the Classic session and check out if there're any updates need to be made in this article Tips and Tricks for Ubuntu after Installation. This will take some time though.

I tried Ubuntu 11.04 Class desktop, and noted that you can now drag and drop a window to the left or right edge of the desktop to fill up half of the screen.
This is available now by default without the need to tweak anything.
