Maybe Anupam can shed some light on the Indian situation for us?

I keep having the same feelings about Windows 7 after a while, usually brought on by the fact that the English translation pack doesn't prevent some stuff still being churned out in Portuguese. This mainly centers around security program log files which I then have to translate which is a real pain. Consequently, my dual boot now has a good 'ol English version of XP on it together with Mint. Apart from testing I rarely use Windows now and with a fresh install I can set up and customize Mint in less than an hour, including the time it takes to copy my main stuff back across from an external drive. With windows, just installing, configuring and updating the security apps is likely to take this amount of time, without anything else.

Thanks Jeff.

Sorry, but I really do not have much idea about how much is Linux being used in India. By large, Windows is quite popular in India... though places where technical assistance is available, Linux must be used. But again, really no idea.

Thanks for the link Torres. As can be seen, Windows is highly popular than Linux.

With the wonderful talents I've seen at TSA both in the main pages and in the various forums, there could be super-duper linux os distro. Given a name like Linux Midnight Cowboy or Linux Anupam, it would take over the operating system world within a year!

We're actually developing one called Gizmoid because it will work on mobile apps as well as PC's. It will have a default home page which can't be changed (TSA of course), Gizmo wallpaper and the Ask toolbar. Should be very popular.

Well, we had considered E17 but then realized that a certain Bodhi Linux was already doing a pretty fair job with this already
