Attention...bk_7312
have you had a look at SalixOS as yet? super ez Slackware 100% compatible with repos and depends, (1)cd install with (3)choices full, basic, core (with no X) full gives you the works, basic= you pick what you want/need, core= server no X. very fast, stable and less than 600 meg download, so if you like Slackware this is a must see. Based on Slackware 13.0 Have fun. http://salixos.org Last edited by Jojoyee; 10. Dec 2009 at 01:15 AM. Reason: Changed title of this thread to Salix OS |

I'm sure other members might be interested in this too so please title your threads accordingly so that others can see what the content is.
If you wish to draw the attention of something specifically to one member please use the PM facility provided for this purpose. Please also have some sympathy because since messing up my online upgrade of Ubuntu 9.04/9.10 I've failed dismally to get connected back with Linux. I did try Fedora 12 (KDE) which I really liked but between my tech and me we couldn't get my stupid broadband modem to work and he's now doing exams at uni so might not be able to look again at this for another week. I've got several scripts off the net for Claro (Brazil) and a Sony Ericsson MD300 modem but can't for the life of me work out how to set it up ![]() Don't you just love Vista?

![]() I'm not familiar with that device and would most likely make your problems worse, but feel free to ask any questions, I'd like to help. Hope you get back online w/ linux soon. ![]() Yes Fedora is an awesome distro, but their security enhanced linux (SELinux), requires additional configuration to run services like samba.

The thing I like about Slackware is that it makes me feel smart just by being able to install it and set it up, though I'm currently using Mepis because I can't live without dependency handling...

![]() The added problem that I have here (being in Brazil) is that the script and instructions for this are all in Portuguese which I don't speak. My wife does of course but Linux "help" in general tends to be targeted at people who already know something and then when this is translated into another language makes even less sense. Well, to me anyway ![]() I'm coping with Vista so far ![]() @Jojo - thanks for changing the thread title. I did intend to do this once I was sure bk_7312 had seen it.
