Need help I installed Ubuntu 9.10 but after the installation it does not boot
I'm was planning to have dual OS XP and Ubuntu, upon booting up you can select XP and Ubuntu but when you select Ubuntu it does not open and the XP is fine... Last edited by Jojoyee; 11. Nov 2009 at 03:02 AM. Reason: Title |

I set up a disk section with its own drive letter and installed it there. Use EASEUS Partition Master 4.0 Home Edition to set up your installation area for Ubuntu. It cannot be installed while running windows so don't believe that it happened even when it says it did! You must install from an ISO file on a disk at start up to have it all work.

IMO this could be related to the installation. Check also the ISO image corresponds to your hardware architecture.
There're four options to choose to install Ubuntu 9.10 following this Step-by-step installation tutorial with screenshots which is helpful. My preference is to create a free (unallocated) space in the hard disk and choose the Option 4 -- Specify partitions manually (even though I have other OSes in the hard disk). But it might be just me and I've not tried other methods whether they work equally well.
