Looks like Firefox 3.6 support could end by April 24, 2012. Most of us have no problems with the frequent updates, though some would prefer the old version (3.6x). Co-incidentally, I was playing around with the latest 3.6 version and missed out the old themes and stuff. Nostalgia! ![]() With the help of the status 4 evar addon and a 3.6 theme, I was able to bring back the "old" look quite easily in the latest stable firefox. status 4 evar: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...4-evar/?src=ss Firefox 3 theme: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...irefox/?src=ss Heck, I was even able to bring back the old download manager with a bit more tweaking: ![]()

Sheesh people, give up on old things.. accept the new
. New is not always better, but in case of Firefox, it is!Change is the only thing that never changes - I like this quote .

I'm on ff 3.6 because I like my extensions... some of them don't work in newer ones and no replacements...
besides, if it aint broke.... so on and so on ![]() same reason people keep using win XP and honestly, I've played with the newer firefoxes and none of them have any new features that I'd like/need. |

, Opera 2 or Firefox 1.0 ![]() Bad jokes apart...What about bug fixes/security patches etc.? With each version, they do fix a lot of issues pertaining to security/stability etc...Wouldn't that be a good reason to upgrade? Yes, the new UI might put off some people (in fact I personally felt that that orange button was hideous) along with tabs on top. Thankfully, there was (is) an option to turn these off. Regarding new features, I don't see too many new features in the latest firefox versions (maybe it's just me?). Firefox still works pretty much the same way for me as in the 3.6 versions. Yes, you do need a few addons (one or two addons only to be very precise) to get back the old look. Last edited by Concerned User; 11. Jan 2012 at 02:34 PM. |

any bugs I've found, I've already found fixes for them...
and since ff3 is "developed" to the point that it isn't going to be supported, no more additions means no more additional bugs to come, so I'm fine with no more fixes since there is nothing to fix security wise, I've yet to be exploited/hacked/etc from any program... even without sandboxie/security programs I know enough to prevent this... I know this isn't for everyone, my sister/mom gets infected just opening the browser it seems. the only thing that would make me upgrade is there are new addons that makes me want it enough and they dont support ff3 It's like I see no reason to switch from windows mobile phone (i like it, and yes it's old and dead) but android tempts me, not because of it's new features (I can do everything android can on windows mobile) only thing WM lacks that android has sway over me is it's app market. And like firefox, the addon's aren't controlled by firefox per say but the interest of the developers. all tech company products are basically clones of each other now, nothing really sets one product apart from another except for its 3rd party programs... Apple's OS tanked in 90s because it was so locked down (pre-iOS) and it almost bankrupted... Microsoft did well in 90s because a lot of 3rd party companies made games/software for windows Linux didn't gain market till now because it took too much work to get 3rd party software initially, now that it is easier, linux is becoming popular also... i Last edited by eyeb; 13.
