Default Microsoft gets silent upgrade religion, will push IE auto-updates

Quote:
Beginning in January it will roll out automatic upgrades of IE to the newest version suitable for a user's version of Windows. Windows XP users still on IE6 or IE7, for example, will be updated to IE8; Windows Vista or Windows 7 users running IE7 or IE8 will be pushed to IE9

Corporate environments AKA offices (still) using IE6 block all updates (I've experienced this personally at an office). The IT team tests and rolls out updates over the weekend. So how will this impact them?

As for home users (still) using IE 6 or 7, most of them don't even turn on windows updates.

Expect a lot of chaos everywhere
