I am attempting to think about utilizing Gmail (and the Google calendar) as my primary tool, rather than Outlook. But, I'm running into what I see as a major issue for me. I've searched the Google forums and cannot find a solution.
If someone sends me an appointment or event in ics format, there doesn't appear to be a way to save that ics attachment in my Google calendar. Some forums say save the ics attachment to your hard drive, then import it into your calendar and then delete the ics attachment from your hard drive. That seems like a lot of work. I'd like to be able just to save it automatically to my calendar. Anyone know of a simple solution? P.S. I tried the above method and couldn't even get it to work.

This "How to Add an iCal or .ICS Calendar to Google Calendar" might help.
