Firefox 7.0

Finally, its here. The release I have been waiting for. Firefox 7.0 should be out today, or tomorrow. Its already available on Kaldata.net, where I saw this. Officially, I think it should be released tomorrow... I will have to see their schedule to confirm that.

This release is said to bring major improvement in memory usage, so I was quite excited for this. Hope the news has been true.

Confirmed now. Firefox 7.0 final will be releasing tomorrow, 27th of Sep, 2011. Got it from here :

I remember last time also they released a version on Tuesday.

Thought I'd give it a go so downloaded it from Kaldata, installed it over the top of 6, no problems. Six extensions I have all work fine - AdBlock Plus, All In One Gestures, British English Dictionary, QuickDrag, Tab Mix Plus and WOT. It shows Java Console as incompatible with FF 7 and is disabled.

Other than that everything seems fine and it's running ok. Can't say about the memory usage because I don't recall how much 6 used on here but it seems to be running light enough, nice and snappy - I'm using it on XP Pro.

Thanks Deya, for the feedback. Downloading from Kaldata is quite safe, because they provide the download link from Mozilla ftp repository itself. But, as I always do, I will download it officially.

At this moment, with 4 tabs open, and after using the flash game(and closed it), the memory usage is around 230,000 K for Firefox, and around 74,000 K for the plugin-container. This is on Firefox 6.0.2. I will compare this to Firefox 7.0, after I install it tomorrow.

Five tabs open, heavy graphics in 3 of them, uTube video playing in another - memory is hovering around 190/200,000 K. Plugin-container is around 58,000 K. 2 gigs RAM on this machine. It'll vary from machine to machine, but it runs nice on this one.

Wow... with a YouTube video playing, that amount of memory usage sounds cool. Lets see what I get tomorrow. Mine is a P-IV, with 1 GB DDR RAM.
