Default IE 9 and Add-ons

In Firefox, it's quite easy to check for updates for your extensions or add-ons. However, I cannot seem to find out how to do this for IE 9?!

I've spent the last 30 minutes or so trying to find out how to get IE 9 to check for updates for the add-ons that are installed. I can't find it.

Why am I asking? Well, I just had a number of extensions updated when I opened Firefox, so I know that they are available. I wanted to check if there were updates for the IE versions.

I'll stand corrected if this has changed with ie8/9 but with 7 I'm pretty sure you had to download and run the whole thing again and wait to see if there was a "you already have the latest version of this program" message If yes, then waste of time, if no you just installed over the top.

MC, you may be right, but I find that to be unacceptable for a browser. It's odd, I've tried searching for this issue and can't seem to find the answer anywhere.....

I totally agree with you. No doubt if IE's market share plunged by a few points they would be motivated to make it more user friendly.

It's also unbelievable you still have to obtain a bolt-on spellchecker for it.

I remember a few years ago when Microsoft outsourced their DNS requests because they couldn't guarantee to protect their own network from a DDoS attack, so it was OK for them to swap sides for this. Remember too the MS exec who got fired for having Ubuntu on his desktop?

Thinking about it, I wonder how many MS employees you would find using Firefox or Chrome
