Default Free music player

Hey all

I am looking for a free music player that ... ...

* Can remove duplicate music (if possible).
* Gives me the option to burn CDs.
* Gives me the option to "Not Download Album Art".
* Can sync ipods (not a priority).

Thanks in advance.

Yes I did. Confused as to what offers which. I can't see anything in the posts that specifically state that it gives you the option to delete duplicate songs, option to not download album art.

If anyone knows of a music player (see above specs) please let me know.

The features you are looking for, like, ability to delete duplicate songs, or, not downloading album art are ones that are not used by many users, and therefore, you will have to do some research yourself. We can only point you to the suggestions... but you will have to go to their sites, and look at the features, and see if they are what you want or not.

Or, if someone already uses a player with such features, they will tell you. But since these are not common features, you should do the searching yourself.

I don't think most of the music players will have the option to burn CDs. The one I could see from the article was JetAudio. You can check it out to see if it has other features you require.

"Not download album art' is quite a strange feature that you are asking for. I think if a program has the ability to download album art, it will have an option to turn that feature off, if you so desire.

Have you looked at foobar? It has an option to remove duplicates and won't display album art if you don't want it. As for the other stuff on your list, you'll have to install plug-ins.

The plug-ins/components list is here. To be more specific the CD burner plug-in is here, and the ipod manager is here. Look at the bottom of each page for 'How to install a component'.

The only things I have installed for foobar are some equalizer pre sets, I don't use any other plug-ins but as you can see from the list there are many ways to customise the program. I found a couple of quick guides for foobar, one here - and one for using an ipod with it, here. You could take a look and see what you think, if it's what you're after.

foobar bar is an excellent audio player but some people do seem to find it a little daunting to set up and use, but it's capable of doing much more than the standard install if you're willing to have a go at customising it. If you are then I think it should tick all the boxes on your list.

It's worth a look, it runs very light.

Not sure I understand this site. I thought you gave an assessment of products, reliability and features etc... interesting.

Someone should tell that to Apple ...iTunes

[COLOR="rgb(0, 100, 0)"]I find this one of the most strange comments!!

Album art takes up unneccesary space on users computers who do not use album art at all, like myself .

Most of us prefer to use older versions of itunes that give you the option to download and or opt out of downloading album art. Like I said, I"ve come straight from itunes forums. Not a fan of itunes anymore and I am looking for a new player.. I'll look at the suggestion below and see what eventuates from there. Heads up ... you do know that allot of people don't like music players that don't give you that option to opt out of album art ...right?

Certainly regarding VLC, I believe this option is presented when you run the program for the first time.

MusicBee and Foobar provides these options you wanted like removing duplicates and not downloading album art automatically. You just need to toggle between these settings. For more help you could post in their forums or ask here.

Yes, we offer assessment of products in the said categories, in our articles, and therefore, I pointed to you the article, where you could find different software suggestions, with their features pointed out.

You said you were confused as to which offered which, and therefore in response to that, I had written my reply.

I never talked about iTunes. So, I don't understand your writing such statement. I understand you might not be happy with iTunes because of its features, or recent changes, but I had not written my post in that context. You took it to a totally different tangent.

You earlier never said you came from iTunes forum, and you also did not express any dissent about iTunes in your earlier post. So, how were we to know? Now I understand what you are talking about.

Hope you find a music player of your choice.
