Stand-alone boot-time scanner

I am unaware of any programs that are solely for boot-time scanning for malware etc.

I am only aware of AV programs that have this as a feature. Such as Avast for example.

I currently run MSE and I can't find boot-time scan option anywhere. So is there any programs that will perform a boot-time scan such as that offered with Avast or the like, as I obviously cannot install Avast or such alongside MSE.

I think a stand-alone boot time scanner won't exist at all. Because, to run at boot time, it will have to be installed on the computer, and also have that feature.

Best bet would be download one of the antivirus rescue CDs, like Kaspersky, or Dr Web, which are freely available, and scan with them by booting from the CD.

Have you tried with a Live CD ? Such as Avira's.
