I know there are plenty of progs that will bring a computer out of hibernation and execute programs etc but I want one that will auto execute programs when I click the power button and bring the computer out of hibernation. I dont want this to be scheduled because its different times throughout the day. I leave my orifice and come back several hours later etc.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! : ) Alex |

Mentioning your OS and version is helpful in these situations. I wanted to do the same thing once running Win Xp and found this http://www.desimonesystems.com/suspendtrigger/index.php. But it unfortunately does not work with Vista or Seven according to the site.
The other way to do this is built into Windows. Your task scheduler has the ability to run a task based "on event" rather the clock. I have never done this but from what I found you would want to use the event in "System" log -- Source "Power-Troubleshooter" -- Event ID "1" Finally you could also use Autohotkey. (You can do almost anything you want with Autohotkey.) I check the forums for a pre-made script for it, and voila, there was one. http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/topic21697.html (Note: many Antivirus / Malware scanners will report Autohotkey. This is because it can be made to work like a keylogger or just about anything else and if anyone installed Autohotkey without your knowledge you probably would want to know about it. It is perfectly safe if you install it yourself from the developers page. )

I am indeed using XP. and the task scheduler working based on an event is fascinating. never thought of that. very very cool. I will look into it and report back. thanks again!!! Alex : ) |
