Password Protect Folders/Files

I recently missed out on an offer for software that can password protect folders or files on a Windows system.

Are there any freeware programs out there that can do this?

I use AxCrypt quite often for my purpose. You can check out this and others recommended in Best Free File Encryption Utility.

I use AxCrypt for individual files and TrueCrypt to create Virtual Drives that I put my 'personal' data on.

truecrypt is what i use for encryption , it is very easy to use and has on the fly encryption. I recommend it.
