Smile Search and Replace text in word doc

Looking for a program to Search and Replace text in word doc. So I would enter in a word/phrase, the program will search through all text in a .docx file for that word/phrase, and Replace all with the designated Replace word/phrase. Thank you.

I must not quite understand your question. Why? Because Word has this function built right into itself. All versions of Word have this ability. To find it depends upon which version of Word you are using.

it's Office word 07

i dont think it does what im looking for. i should rephrase the question:

"..the program will search through all text in [ALL] .docx file for that word/phrase, and Replace all with the designated Replace word/phrase."

Your request is still a bit strange or mis-spelled. Do you mean all docx files (if so you left the s off) or all words in the one file? I don't see why anyone would want to change a word in all their docs - unless it's a name change or something. As Kendall says the function is already there to change all words in one file.

I think they mean replacing words in several docx files. Its quite a legitimate request.

rm2dance, please look here :

I haven't tried these programs myself, so don't know whether they will work with docx files, or not. You can give a try. I think they should.

yes all, and i tried looking but it seems like pretty much all programs "does not work with binary files" and .docx is supposedly a binary file. im sure there must be a simple program out there that does that: it seems that http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...ch-utility.htm is able to search within so perhaps they also have a function that can replace though i dont expect that they would, but ill look them over. i sent in a request to be an editor of a page i was interested in, though i guess i didnt show enough interest and motivation, haha. o well i guess i wont be able to do any updates on the best-free-desktop-search-utility.htm

you may also like to do some merging like with http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...-organizer.htm and http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...es-utility.htm -- is there really a significant difference between say evernote and stickies? sure, they may both have different approach to note management, but essentially, that's what they both are. going around this site, sometimes i jus get lost.

oh im looking for this btw: what-program-can-remove-or-disable-recent-file-history-in-windows-xp

i also tried googling again on the search and replace and this thread is the 4th post on google^^

DOCX is a ZIP file. You can unzip it to expose the underlying XML.
