I want to get the best usage I can when cutting various pieces out of standard size wood panels. I thought there might be software to help with this.
I found some commercial options but none of those looks promising. What is available out there? Or is this requirement too specialised? Last edited by MidnightCowboy; 02. Feb 2011 at 07:52 PM. Reason: Named commercial products removed. |

I ran across a free program to help you do "cut plans" but it has been quite awhile ago. I will try to see if I can find it again. It may take a day or two.

I stumbled across this years ago but haven't ever used it but maybe it will do what you want to do. And the price is right.

Boy I am sorry, this totally slipped my mind. Wllm55 suggestion looks pretty good. I also found the one that I ran across some time ago. It is actually a plugin for sketchup http://sketchup.google.com/, which if you have not ever used for wood working design http://sketchupforwoodworkers.com/, I will tell you now you can do amazing stuff with it.
Here is the plugin http://lumberjocks.com/daltxguy/blog/5143 I ran across this one while looking for the above. It is an online application http://www.otimizenesting.com/
