Default E-mail Recovery

First of all I would like to give my full gratitude to this site as it is a good resource. I have been using this site for more than two years already.

Now for the real deal. Is there any good freeware that can recover deleted mails particularly in outlook pst files? If there is a resource here, can somebody point me to it with a link just in case I just mislooked over that part.

From what I understand when you delete a email in outlook it only marks it as white space and does not actually remove the database entry until you "compact" the database. So as long as you did not compact it your mail should be retrievable. Now if we can only locate a freeware program capable of doing it.

You might try this software to see if you can find the "deleted" entries. http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/pst-viewer.html I don't use Outlook so I don't have any way to test it myself.

Thanks for this bit of info. Available application was demo version but since I wasn't exactly dealing with one with attachments, I can make do with the inability to save the mail and just perform a quick copy paste of the mail.
