Hi guys, hoping for a suggestion re an email reading programme. I have been using OE for years and will soon move to Windows 7. OE apparently doesn't work there so I need to get a replacement email reader that I can use offline, and which can keep identities/accounts separate.
I have Thunderbird for my main account but have used OE for a couple of other email accounts. I've many emails sorted into a lot of sub-folders and so don't want to pool identities in the new reader I use. Essentially, I'm trying to find a programme that mimics OE in terms of completely separate identities. Can anyone suggest something? I do have Outlook as well, not sure if that would work in the same way. Thanks for your suggestions, S. |

I use Thunderbird for many years now managing several separate e-mail accounts. You can setup several accounts in TB even using different SMTP servers for each of them. I have created one subfolder for each account in the Inbox folder and configured that incoming mail for each account is moved to the appropriate folder. So I have them separated right away. Since you are used to TB already that would be option 1.
Option 2 is to use Windows 7 Live Mail. Live Mail replaced Outlook Express in Windows 7. If it is not installed yet on your Windows 7 computer you can download it here (it's free): http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail?os=other

Hey guys, thanks for that... George, I was hoping to get one where each account is completely separate to the other like in Outlook Express...ie that you have to close/restart the programme to get to the next identity. The reason for that is I have a very large number of subfolders and preferred to keep my various accounts apart. I'm worried that it will otherwise be very complicated/cluttered. Are there any other options you can think of?
Eyeb, how stable is Koma mail? Does it allow you to switch identities like in Outlook Express? Thanks! Shane |
