Default file tagging software

Hi

I need a software that is able to tag file types as: video files, picture files, documents, text files

important features for me:
* ability to add tags in batch (add a tag or more to a group of files at one time)
* ability to browse through tags and not only search by tag
* a tag bank, from which I can pick tags

Maybe no one is aware of such a software. Did you try Google?

not really tagging but voidtool's everything has filters on its newest beta 1.2.1.452a.

You can filter then search what you want. Then tag something by renaming it with a tag. You can batch rename with renaming tools like Renamer http://www.den4b.com/projects.php

Its possible to drag files from everything into renamer then have it add (tag) to end of file name. next time you want to find it use everything and look for (tag)

Maybe they just thought that someone as rich as Hillary Clinton could afford something other than freeware.

Sometimes half the battle is knowing what to search for. I searched for "file manager with tags," and found this one after a little browsing. TaggedFrog. http://lunarfrog.com/ It appears that it supports tagging any kind of file. Basically a file manager like explorer with tagging ability. Pretty cool looking actually. It looks like it even supports tag clouds. Let us know if it works out for you.

I agree .

TaggedFrog seems like a good find Ritho. It might even be what the member wants.

I said the other one had everything you asked for, but I don't know about batching. But just found one more you can try!

by the way: another important feature: I don't want for the tagging data to be stored in other than windows's "Keywords" (what you have when you right click a file and than choose "properties") . I need the software to be able to edit that portion exactly otherwise it's useless for me.

I think it might actually be called an "IPTC editor", that's justifies what was said about knowing what to look for

IPTC refers to a method of tagging photos, using limited file types, as the tag is saved in the meta data of the file (photo).
