Default A standalone spreadsheet app

I want to try an alternative to MS Office or OpenOffice. Too phat.

Any ideas for a standalone spreadsheet? Preferably it needs to read .xl, .xls, and .xlxyz or whatever MS add next.

OK.

They don't seem too keen on Windows users though. I guess it's possible..... but the download linked to there is:
www[DOT]gnome.org/~jody/gnumeric/win32/gnumeric-1.9.12-20090902-debug[DOT]exe

...which looks like some sort of alpha version.

Hope they move forward with that one - think I'll stick with OO/Calc for now. Well, unless you know different.

Have a look at this thread for discussion of Gnumeric for Windows, and on its Windows version.

Gnumeric

There are several web apps that will do the job - I've worked with http://sheet.zoho.com/

Here's a list from Mashable

There's Lotus Symphony, but its a pretty large program. The good thing about it is that it's free and will run on some versions of Linux, Mac, and Windows.
