Libre Office 3.4.0 final was released a few days ago. This is what is said about this version on the site :

There are still some issues however, which can be seen towards the end of release notes. They plan to fix these issues in the later bug-fix releases.

But I recently saw in a forum in which they were talking about some "new version of open office"? was that something else? I mean if the name is changed then this mean that we wont have the open office any more, we ll call it Libreoffice and all the updates will come with this new name?

LibreOffice is a fork of OpenOffice... which means they are now two different products. Both will be developed independently.

So, you can use anyone you like.
