You need a genuine query.
How's about... How does a friend of yours Subscribe to the Users List. Copy/Paste the undeliverable info ...to the body of your genuine query & ask - What does it mean when a user attempt to subscribe via posted link... is returned with.....

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

abiword-user-request [AT] abiword.snt.utwente.nl
SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
host abiword.snt.utwente.nl [130.89.149.216]:

Sounds like a genuine query to me...
Thnx - grateful for your interest and efforts.

Sorry, but I don't consider this as a genuine query. A genuine query would be about Abisource itself, and not about mailing problems.

Anyways, according to this page :

http://www.abisource.com/support/help/maillist.phtml

It says that before you can send mails, you have to first "subscribe" to the mailing list. This is what the page says :

Quote:
You can sign up for the AbiWord User's Mailing List by sending an email to abiword-user-request [AT] abisource.com with "subscribe" in the message body.
Quote:
To send a message to the list, simply write to abiword-user [AT] abisource.com, after having subscribed. Please only send plain text emails to the list, not HTML or rich text emails.

The user's list is configured so that only members can submit messages to it. This greatly reduces the amount of spam that reaches subscribers.
I have underlined the parts which need attention. So, had you subscribed to the mailing list first?

If yes, did you send messages in plain text? From the details that you had posted, regarding failure message, it seems that you sent messages in HTML, and therefore the message was rejected. Please try sending mail in plain text.

The problem seems to be at your end, and not their end.

bjm, thanks for the link. Its helpful.

I think since you have now sent the message in plain text, it should work this time . Good luck.

And I did not educate... nor I can . I simply conveyed what was on the site. Its important to read the instructions carefully, if things don't work as intended.

Hello Anupam
Plain text email worked almost immediately as the response was automated.
I respectfully agree with your comment Its important to read the instructions carefully, if things don't work as intended.
As this was my very first and only experience with non responsive html format email....I may have read the instructions, absent understanding the instructions...as understanding only came with experience.
Live and learn
Thnx

Hi bjm, great to hear it worked well . And about the instructions, I think it happens with everyone at sometime or the other.... we often either miss them, or misread them. Has happened to me too, and still keeps happening at times .
