How to convert PDF File into smaller size?

I have a 5 MB PDF file, I need it to convert into something smaller. I only have PDF Reader, I have no Adobe Acrobat or whatever. What is the best way to do that? What is the best way to convert it into smaller size?

You could try zipping it. That might shrink it if you are looking to email it.

Free PDF Compresser can compress your pdf file to a smaller size but not much, based on my working on the last free version 1.12. The new version 2.0 is renamed Nice PDF Compressor which is shareware.

If your pdf file contains high quality images which can result in a large pdf file size, try to use a virtual pdf printer to print the file into another pdf file in lower quality. This will significantly reduce the file size. I am able to reduce a 2.2 MB pdf file to a mere 68 KB pdf file for email.

Actually, I was asking to change a PDF file (in MB) into a PDF File (in KB) I just used a trial version of Adobe Acrobat. What I want is a freeware. Thanks for replies.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. Print a PDF file (in MB) via a virtual PDF printer, which will create a new PDF file (in KB, as mentioned earlier).

I use PDF printer quite often. Just to differentiate, a physical printer prints a file to paper, a 'virtual' PDF printer prints any document (including PDF file itself) into a file in PDF format. You need to open the PDF file in a reader, select "Print" and choose "Bullzip printer" as the printer to print the document. The printed file is saved in a harddisk without a piece of paper.

This serves the purpose of changing a PDF file into another PDF file in a smaller size, at zero cost, without the need to pay for Acrobat, expensive commercial software.

Hi,
I have used bullzip as suggested above, but it saves the new file with the extension ".ps" What should i do to save it as pdf? does not offer this option during the diagol box steps..

What jim is suggesting, that you might not have the Ghostscript software installed, which converts .ps to .pdf. You can install it from here :
