AFAIK Internet Explorer (IE) is part of Windows and therefore you can't uninstall it without damaging your system.

You can disable IE but I wouldn't recommend doing so as most antivirus/antimalware software still use IE for downloading their updates.

Very very truth. What you can do Sophie, is set Opera as default browser, so you always open web documents with it.

It could be. But I just think Sophie was looking for an easy, quick option.

Surely is advisable to check for malware.

Sophie: What antivirus package do you have? If you still cannot access those particular pages with IE, you should do a complete system scan and ensure that you're protected.

Let IE 9 sit idle on ur machine. Though it is possible to uninstall IE, I ,personally dont recommend it as it is way too deeply connected with registry and other programs..(in simple words, it can get very,very messy if u lack geekiness
