Problem with Windows updates

Hello,

I have some problem with Windows updating. There are some updates. When I download them and installing after some time again there is notification I should update them and so on. It happens all the time. Any idea why ?

Yes, they haven't installed.

There have been well-known problems with particular updates such as some for Microsoft's .NET Framework (the building blocks that are available to developers using Microsoft programming languages).

If there is a known problem with an update that won't install for you then you should be able to find help info by searching with the update ID e.g. KB123456 and the version of windows (XP, Vista, 7, etc) you are using.

Microsoft also provided help pages and tools to fix the problems. I haven't tried this one but it might help you:

I have problem with KB2656351 and KB2487367 updates and my system is Windows XP. What should I do ?

This could be variable depending on your local circumstances. See if the fix detailed here works, if not try Googling both KB numbers and look for other suggestions.

The latter caused me problems too. I did everything that Microsoft suggested short of reinstalling WIndows XP. The problem remained so I hid the update and a recent update appeared to fix the problem.

I had a similar problem to this with one XP machine. What I did was to use Windows Update from the start menu, ran the express updates in IE when it opened, then installed the updates from there.

Re-booted and the updates stuck. Ran the update check again (express) and it showed everything up to date. I have no idea why that is, or even it's the same problem as emil is having, but it might be worth a try.

I have uninstalled and installed again .NET Framework 4 and now it seems everything is OK. Thank you.
