Default sandboxie disabling a program

can i use sandboxie (which i am new to) if i have a browser defender already installed?

i have watched the tutorial and think i have implemented sandboxie as it is supposed to be, however when i use sandboxie my other browser defenders update ability becomes disabled.

can i have 2 browser defenders, or do i need to get rid of one?. do they conflict similar to having 2 a/v programs installed?

windows xp home, version 2003
sp 3
mse, mbam, hitman pro, sandboxie and browser defender
all updated daily.
average user, nothing that would knowingly cause me trouble

i dont mind doing the work rather than having you guys do it for me, but i cant find anything that i would rely on per internet search.

I assume that you are running your browser sandboxed? If so, no add-on updates or browser defender updates will "stick" or stay after you close down the browser. That's the purpose of sandboxie, it gets rid of everything when you close the browser.

In order to update add-ons or your browser defender, right click on the sandboxie icon and then click "Disable Forced Programs". That will allow you to open up your browser normally. From there, you can update add-ons or your browser defender. Once updated, close the browser and then restart. It will updated and then will be sandboxed.

Hope that helps.

yes it does, sandboxie is rapidly becoming more important to me than i first thought. it may be the only "defender" i need as browsers go. the more i learn about it the more i want to learn about it, thanks for your assistance

As far as I'm concerned, you don't need any sort of browser defender IF you are using Sandboxie every time you browse the internet. There just is no need!

In fact, several people on these forums have even done away with their anti-virus since they use Sandboxie exclusively. I'm not recommending that for you, but that's how solid Sandboxie is.

im not that brave yet, im a novice but so far i have not found any confliction with other programs, and "in theory" i understand sandboxie, i just need more exposure to it, and that will come in time. it really is crafted to be user friendly, but i would suggest to anyone such as myself to watch the tutorial a few times as you should with anything offering a "how to " button.

thanks for putting me on track kendall, im sure you'll have to bail me out again, lol
