Smile Delete unallocated space on hard disk

Hi There,
I have just joined, and this is my very first comment.

I have a hard drive 320GB with one partition on it. This partition has been created out of 3 partitions. Now this single partition is sorrounded by two unallocated spaces of around 8MB each.
Partition Wizard can not see the partition itself, sees the disk as entierly unallocated space.
Easeus, Paragon and Acronis can see the partition and the unallocated spaces.
My intention is to get rid off those two unallocated spaces, however I have failed so far with using Easeus or Paragon.
Do you have ideas what can be done except wipe (reformat) the whole disk?
Thank you for your advise!

I deleted your post in the other thread. Please do not duplicate the same issue in different parts of the forum. This makes tracking responses difficult for those offering assistance, and for others who might have an interest in the result.

Some confusion. Actually, I moved his post from the other thread to here, as a new thread... and he thought, that the post was deleted.. hence the double posting.

Always better to have too many folks working on something than none.
Blame it on me anyway, I'm used to it.

Reasons why the partition is not recognized could be:
  • It is not a primary partition so it is an extended partition and needs a primary partition. That's why there's 8MB reserved at the start of the disk so you can add the smallest possible primary partition. This seems most likely.
  • It is not partitioned in a recognized format ie it came from a different computer system. PC drives are now almost universal. They have a partition table in the master boot record at the start of the drive. All those programs should recognize it. As two of them do it is not likely to be this problem.

The 8MB at the end of the disk is something to do with dynamic disk structures.

As to what you should use, use whatever combined the three partitions.

Otherwise, I rely on Gparted. It is a Linux partition manager that you usually run from a bootable disk (CD/DVD).

Thank you for the tips! I will check type of the partition and convert it to primary.
