I've had Firefox sync running for a month to keep my bookmarks uptodate between browsers. I hadn't used Pale Moon much so I went to sync it with my current bookmarks in Waterfox. Pale Moon needed to be added to Firefox Sync again, probably because Firefox/Waterfox has been updated since I last used it. To do that I went to Waterfox and added Pale Moon as a device.
The syncing began immediately on Pale Moon, unfortunately you cannot see how it is progressing. There was no change in Pale Moon. I thought, maybe I need to sync Waterfox again. This was a bad move because instead of getting my Waterfox data transferred to Pale Moon, I got my old Pale Moon data transferred to Waterfox. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Now I'm about to use Comodo Programs Manager to restore my setup and see if I get my uptodate bookmarks back.

I had used Firefox Sync way back, when it was under another name... I think Mozilla Weave. But, at that time, it did not work properly. In fact, didn't work at all
.I had already found XMarks though, and so I have continued to use that. XMarks works really well for me. Also, it keeps multiple copies of your old bookmarks going a long time back. That's a plus. It is also available for different browsers. Apart from that, I use the FEBE add-on for Firefox, which too works great. With that, I do a daily backup of bookmarks, extensions, passwords etc. Been using it for years too. With these two, I did not feel the need to use Firefox sync.

I purposely don't use any more toolbars than I have to which means only one or two. I have thought of some potential reasons why sync might have gone wrong. - I had uninstalled Firefox Nightly and left the profile which is shared with Waterfox. Maybe they aren't 100% compatible??? - I had upgraded my CPU - maybe it thought Pale Moon was on a different system??? - I applied the latest Windows updates which have caused some other problems, maybe related???

I don't like toolbars at all, so I have none.
About the syncing problem, I think something happened while trying to sync across browsers. I don't exactly know how Firefox Sync works, as I don't use it, so cant tell what might have gone wrong. But, I had a similar situation with XMarks once. I think I was trying to sync on different browsers... I don't exactly remember what happened, but I think I synced the other way around... and my whole bookmarks went to zilch because of that. Lost some new bookmarks. Can be a risky thing if not done properly.
