annykim; that's the common tasks menu you have showing up there. I've never come across that happening before - maybe someone else here has? I've had a look around and found these pages for you to look at, read them first and see if you're comfortable with applying the fixes.
First one is here - read the 1st method [under the image] and see if you can follow that. Don't use the 2nd method if you're not sure - instead, look at the second page link below. Second page is here - click on 'Win XP Fixes' - then 'Remove Common Tasks From Desktop' it's a tool to correct the problem so you'll have to download it, read the instructions on the page first. I've never used either of them before so think carefully before you use them yourself. Also, have you tried using your system restore? - set it back to a date before the problem started and see if that fixes it? I'd try that first, before trying the two fixes I've linked to. Just to stress again - don't mess around in the registry if you're not sure what you're doing, and maybe someone else here can come up with a better solution. |

Thank you very much for your prompt answer to my problem. I opted for your second option and the result was fantastic. No more annoying panel. I should mention that I downloaded the zip file, double-clicked on the result and re-started the PC to regain the full desktop. once again, A big Thank You. Sincerely, Annykim |
