I'm curious to see if any other users have encountered this problem or
anything similar; if so, please let me know! Currently using MS Outlook 2007, running windows vista . When I'm composing a new email and click the "Attach File" paperclip icon, the window pops up for me to browse and select the file I want to attach. However, when the window opens, it freezes - it takes at least 5 - 10 seconds before it will let me click on anything (file, folder, even 'Desktop' button on Quick Bar). I have no idea what it is processing for that amount of time (for a relatively fast processor, 5-10 seconds means it's crunching some serious stuff). Anyone have any experience with this? If so, any assistance or advise would be highly appreciated. |

I do not have MS Outlook, but I have a similar occurrence when moving or copying files.
In my case it is due to my external hard drive (WD) taking time to wake up. If you have an external hard drive attached, that could be the cause. |

When you click on "attach file", Outlook has to search for all network drives, hard drives, external drives, usb drives, etc. That can take some time.
I find it much quicker to first find the file you want to send (using My Computer or Windows Explorer), right click on it, and then select "send to" and then "email recipient". This automatically opens up an email message with the file already attached. It's much quicker. BTW--this applies to any email program that you have set as your default.
